All About Me
  1. Golf Achievements:  I started golf the summer before my freshman year. I was on the varsity team as a freshman and recieved Coaches Award at the end of the season. I had played a little bit here and now, but I became very serious about golf the summer before my sophomore year. As a sophomore on the varisty golf team, I played the first spot for every tournament. I recieved the Most Important Player award at the end of that season. I found a passion for golf in these years and decided to attend the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy in August of my junior year. I started with an 18 handicap, at best. Now, my handicap is a 6.5 and only improving. I recently received among three others, the "Most Improved Award" and my school, IJGA.
  2. Other Achievements:  Outside of golf, I enjoy skiing. I raced downhill skiing for seven years and after I ended my racing career, I started teaching younger kids how to ski. I loved doing that. it was very fulfilling to use what i had been taught and put it forth in kids that started around the age that I did. i always wished to continue my skiing career, but my love for golf took over that, and I decided to spend more of my time in that aspect.
  3. Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete golfer: I am a very hard worker and know how to manage time. I spend most of my time at the course and whenever I have schoolwork, I know that is even more important if I want to get into college.
  4. I will be a good college teammate because: I am a very competitive person but I love having teammates to compete with me. I feel that I am very enthusiastic and optimistic and can push others along with my own personal drive.
  5. I am looking for a university and golf program that: Has a good academic curriculum. I would like somewhere that also has a team of equally interested and self-motivated players that enjoy and love the game of golf.
  6. My college goals are: To balance my time with golf, school, and extracurriculars. I plan to graduate with a degree and to further my studies and get an even higher degree. I also wish to take my golf game to the next level, whether it is immediately after my college education or in the years after.
  7. I am looking for a college golf coach that:  Understands how much I want to improve and notices my improvements as I go.
  8. The strengths of my golf game are: My short game. Whenever my ball striking is not at its best and I miss greens, I work hard to get up and down, and I would say that is the best part of my golf game. Also, my mental game. I never let one shot affect me.
  9. The weaknesses of my golf game are: My distance. I am not the longest junior girl golfer. But I don't find that to be a disadvantage. Though it would probably make my game more consistent, it has allowed me to improve my short game. For example, playing against a longer hitter and we both miss a green, I have noticed that I get up and down more often because I have had more practice. I feel that in the long run when I do get longer, this will only benefit me.
  10. I think my golf game will continue to improve because: I have the drive to only improve. I have improved so much already. I used to regularly shoot in the 90s in and out of tournaments and now I have broken 80 in both of my last two tournaments. I know I will only improve because I am going to work hard every day to get better for myself.
Personal Statement
Though many people tell me I started golf later than the top junior golfers, I also know that there are professional athletes that didn't become the great players they are now at such young ages. For example, Michael Jordan was cut from his varsity team as a sophomore, and now he has five MVP awards under his name and has been elected for the Basketball Hall of Fame. I am not looking to join the LPGA next year, and to break 70 before I graduate high school. I know that if it's meant to be, it will happen, but I am going to take every chance and every opportunity I have open to me to improve and try and reach my goals of going to a great college, playing on the golf team, and hopefully joining the LPGA.
