All About Me
  1. Golf Achievements: I am the only girl on an all boys team. My goal when I set out to play as a freshman was to be the first female captian of the boys team. I have attached a recommendation letter from my coach which has made me very proud of what I have accomplished. I will be the first the female captain in the schools history.  The respect from my peers has been overwhelming. Last year I decided it was time to challenge the Womens Club Champion of the course I play at, Nashawtuc Country Club. She had won the tournament 14 straight years and had never really been challenged. I won by 19 shots and this feat has lifted me to be a regular on the men's saturday afternoon game. It is a group of men who's handicap ranges from +2 to 7, they play from the mens back tees, they callenge me to be a better player everyday. I have won many New England Junior Tournaments over the last three years.

  2. Other Achievements: My achievements outside of golf have varied, from working at the Lovejoy ranch for special needs children who enjoy horseback riding. I myself am an accomplished rider who has been in many events. I also played hockey on a town team with boys. I have spent time working with children in the hockey initiation program in my town which is a program developed for six to eight year olds.
  3. Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete golfer: I think that being a good college student-athlete requires two important attributes, preperartion and passion. I play golf all year round, indoors in the winter time and as soon as the course opens I am there every afternoon. I can't wait each day to tie my shoes and work on my game, but this passion and preperation transcends into my life as a student. I never miss an assignment, I always prepare and am passionate about success. For me, if you prepare, you have a better shot at make success. What is great about golf is that everyday you are competing against yourself. You control your destiny!
  4. I will be a good college teammate because: I am extremely compassionate and a being a captain of a boys team demonstrates that my peers feel I have what it takes to be a team player and a team leader. I know that being a good teamate requires your understanding and support during a round even if yours is not going well. I have played in more events than anyone on my golf team, experience has taught me how to rise above the bad rounds and not "outcome" think during the great rounds. Being a good teammate requires understanding and experience. Having played on many team sports, from boys hockey, soccer, lacrosse and swimming has given me the opportunity to be a part of many teams and accept the responsibilty I have to being a good teammate.
  5. I am looking for a university and golf program that: Challenges me to rise to the next level. That affords me the opportunity to reach new goals.
  6. My college goals are: To graduate with honors at the same time I am playing competitive golf. I want to be a part of something bigger than me.
  7. I am looking for a college golf coach that: Will take the time to coach me both worlds, golf and school. My father tells a story about when he played sports in college. He had a coach who really spent the time to make sure that his players excelled as athletes but matured through the passion the coach had for his players. I am looking for a coach that will praise me when things are tough and kick me when things are going well. I am a real fan of Vince Lombardi's coaching style.
  8. The strengths of my golf game are: I am deadly from 100 yards in, I spend 70% of my time working on my abilities to get up and down. Not everyday is going to be a great ball striking day. As Sam Snead said once when asked how he decides to play a round, he said" I play with what I brung that day". As you can see I am a avid reader of sports books. I know that to be the best you have to plan for the worst. What if it is cold or rainy that day, if you cant get up and down then you cant score. For me golf is all about the little things that we can do, that arent glamourous like the 275 yard drive where every ones jaw drops. It is about the little pitch shot to tight pin that lands softly are rolls out a few feet, and you say with confidence that is why I practiced it.
  9. The weaknesses of my golf game are: I would say right now is distance. I only hit a 6 iron from 155 and my driver travels about 237 in the air with an average of 12 yards of roll. I have started a work out program with a trainer who is well thought of in the golf community to get stronger. As I continually look at my swing i think I am maximizing my ability, but to rech full potentail need to get stronger.
  10. I think my golf game will continue to improve because: I love the game!!!!!
