All About Me
  1. Golf Achievements:
    • I literally didn't start playing golf until 2 weeks before my freshmen year in high school.
    • After playing for only 2 months, my season low round was a 96.
    • My sophomore year I shot a season low round of 80 to help my high school team win the CIF Central Section Championship and qualify our team to the California Southern Regional Tournament.
    • I shot my first hole in one after playing for only 10 months.
    • I finally broke into the 70's in tournament play after playing for only 19 months.
    • I hold the school record for lowest tournament round (73).
    • 2009 CIF Central Section Southern Area Champion
    • 2009 All Area Player of the Year
  2. Other Achievements:
    • I have maintained a 3.7 gpa while taking honors and GATE classes.
    • I won the 2008 Kern Council Swim Championship in the 50 meter butterfly, 50 meter breaststroke, and 100 meter Individual Medley.
    • I had danced in the Civic Dance Centre's production of the Nutcracker for 8 seasons.
    • I was a member of the 2007 Kern County Junior High Honor Band and the 2005 Kern County Honor Choir.
    • Currently a member of CSF (California Scholastic Federation).
  3. Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete golfer:
I understand the importance of good time management.  I know that being a student-athlete will require a lot of hard work and time on the golf course as well as in the classroom.   Because I started playing golf at such a late age, I have to spend 4 to 6 hours a day working on my game to try and catch up with all the other athletes who have been playing for a lot more years than me.  I am already used to managing my time so that my achievement in the classroom is matched by my achievement on the golf course.
  4. I will be a good college teammate because:

Even though golf is an individual game, the team is what helps the individual achieve through camaraderie, support, encouragement, and leadership.  I have always tried to lead by example and offer any kind of support to my fellow teammates whether it is on the range or off the range.  I am fortunate to play for a team that is very close.  I can only hope that I will have the same experience in college.

  5. I am looking for a university and golf program that:
I want to play for a program that will help me take my career as a player as far as possible.
  6. My college goals are:
I will graduate with a degree in Accounting.
  7. I am looking for a college golf coach that:
I want to work for a golf coach that will push me when I need to be pushed and help me learn as much about the game of golf as possible.
  8. The strengths of my golf game are:
My drive off the tee box and my desire to perfect my game.   I want to be able to pull out any club in my bag and be consistantly accurate every single time.   I have been strength training and cardio training for two years so I am in excellent physical shape.
  9. The weaknesses of my golf game are:
My inexperience is definitely my biggest weakness.  I am working very hard to make up for so much lost time.
  10. I think my golf game will continue to improve because:
I have only been playing for 32 months.  Every month I am getting better and better.
Personal Statement
I started playing golf almost by accident.  My mother had just gotten remarried and my stepfather was teaching her how to play.  She seemed to enjoy playing so when I told her and my stepfather that I wanted to learn and play for my high school team, right away, my mom emailed the high school golf coach to find out if it was even possible.  School was going to start in 2 1/2 weeks and we didn't know if he already had tryouts.   Coach Bernardin told my mom that practice hadn't started yet so I should just show up on Monday.  My stepfather called the pro at his club that day and set up my first lesson.  He told me that if I was going to learn, that it's best to learn the right way before I develop any bad habits.  I had my first lesson two weeks before school started and the rest is history.
