All About Me
  1. Golf Achievements:
    SOPHOMORE 2008
I was awarded Most Improved Player.  I also tied for 8th with a senior from Lakewood High School for All  League
    JUNIOR 2009
     I was awarded MVP.
I was also captain of my varsity team.
I placed 4th in All league behind 2 seniors, and I was the only one from my school to move on to the next competition level.
  2. Other Achievements: I am recognized for my leadership, academic achievements, and volunteer work.  I  have been a member of Assisteens of Assistance League of Long Beach for 4 years. I have held the position of 2nd Vice Chair Philanthropic Programs, Resource Development, and Fundraiser.  I have also been apart of Volunteens of Long Beach since it began in 2007. I was recognized for having above a 3.0 GPA  and also for being a member of Distinguished Scholars at Wilson High School.  Along with my other various clubs and activities at school throughout the years, I have also been a part of Link Crew.  Members of this club must try out then be chosen by Student Commissioners and the school's Activity Director.  The purpose is to help acclimate freshmen class entering high school.
  3. Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete golfer: I am very dedicated to my schoolwork and golf.  I have become quite good at balancing the time between golf, school and a social life.  I love golf and will put a great deal of work and effort into my game to be able to play at the collegiate level.  The only main criteria for my college choices is the opportunity to play and be competitive on the team. That is my dream and I am committed to accomplishing that goal.
  4. I will be a good college teammate because:
I will be a good college student-athlete because I am hard working and easy to get along with.  I keep the team pumped up for matches and I'm enthusiastic.  I help to motivate each girl to do their best and continue to work at their game during both the on and off season. I am very social and agreeable, so I get along with many different kinds of people.
  5. I am looking for a university and golf program that:  I want the golf program to be interactive with one another and work well together.  I want us to challenge each other and strive together to accomplish our goals.  I want to be competitive with other schools, as well as within our own team.  I want knowledgeable coaches and staff to assist the team to the best of their ability, so that the team can reach full potential.
  6. My college goals are:  I want to get a good education, achieve my individual golf goals, play competitive college golf and have fond memories of the team after I graduate.  I also want to strive and be an important part of the team that will help to make the team what it is.
  7. I am looking for a college golf coach that:  I would like a coach who has a plan for the team and the individuals who participate on that team. I would enjoy playing for a head coach who understands my competitive passion for the game of golf and a coach who challenges me to be the best that I am capable of being.
  8. The strengths of my golf game are: My strengths in golf are chipping and driving.  I hit the same shot almost every time with my driver, I am very consistent.  I also have a variety of chip shots that allow me to play many different kinds of shots from all around the green.
  9. The weaknesses of my golf game are:  I need to practice on my concentration and focus level for game situation.  I also need to work on consistency in my longer irons and fairway woods. I am able to hit great shots, it is just not consistent every time I step up to the ball.
  10. I think my golf game will continue to improve because:  My golf will continue to improve because I continue to take lessons and I work very hard on my game. I value the advice of my instructors and try to incorporate their advice into shot making.  I am very dedicated to the goal of becoming a consistent player.  I play with many boys who are better than me, these boy partners play competitive golf and are going on to play at the collegiate level.  They have helped me with course management and goal setting.
Personal Statement
I really want to play college golf.  I know that I made a late start compared to other girls, but it is definitely is a passion for me to play golf. My goal is to be a part of a college team.  My skill level may not be as developed as  those of other girls, but I know I will continue to improve because I love practicing and playing the game. I have played L.A. County Junior Golf and other smaller tournaments in summers past as well as plans for this upcoming summer.  I wasn't exposed to tournament play early on, but once I got the feel for what I wanted and where I wanted golf to take me, I have entered as many local tournaments as possible.  Finances have been an issue because my mother is a single parent.  She does her best, but it is not enough compared to those golfers who started earlier than me and also have two parents contributing to the income.  I can only hope that I can do my best, continue to practice and accomplish my goal of playing on a college golf team.
