All About Me
  1. Golf Achievements:

One of my main achievements in golf was being awarded the MVP on our team sophomore year. Also I received an I CAN PUTT Award the same year for the lowest number of putts for the season at 13. I also was the medalist is a lot of our school matches. In a Junior Tournament Scramble last year I got closest to the pin on a long par four. Besides all the ribbons and little plaques though in golf, my main achievement was personal. I learned a lot about myself and life, that it’s not easy, and you have to work hard to take what is yours.

  2. Other Achievements:

I've received small awards for different things such as ribbons for music, or a plaque for golf, but the achievement that I am most proud of was being presented with the Mason Rotary Club Award. It is presented to students that have shown good attitude and perseverance not only in school, but sports and other activities as well. A lot of people have trophies stacked and polished that say what it is they did on them; but few have something they can show for character. This is my most important achievement because I know it can take me further than an empty cup or a golden statue. It can take me anywhere, be it golf or something else, good character is my best accomplishment.

  3. Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete golfer:

One main thing that would make me a good college student-athlete is my work ethic and knowledge of priorities. The first being my grades will always come first. I work hard in school so that I am able to go out and have fun competing. I also work hard in golf; I know that if I want to get better, I have to work harder. I recently I realized that if you put in the work you'll get better. Everyone always says that but I would practice and it would seem there was no change. And because of that it makes it easy to give up, but finally it clicked. I finally started playing better, and swinging better, but more important than the golf, it made me understand that if you work at something and keep working at it, it will get better. This was most visible effective on my grades, as my mindset changed, so did everything else. A good college student-athlete knows that, and is willing to do what it takes, now that I know that, I am more than willing to do what it takes.

  4. I will be a good college teammate because:
I think that I would be a great college teammate because I get along with people very easily, I’m easy to talk to, and a fun person to be around. I play on the Mason High School Golf team. This past season we had one of the largest numbers of players on a high school golf team at twenty four. Leaving our team with plenty of room for drama on and off the course, but we held together. Not just because we have a good coach, but because we all know that we apart of something special. We were the state champs this year and there was no, I should have played or someone else is better, we all rooted each other on, helped those that were playing to better themselves, which also helps us get better. At the end of the day no matter what happens, we are all still together. Being apart of a team like this makes you a good teammate, because nothing else is accepted. It was good for me because it made me an even better person, and teammate.
  5. I am looking for a university and golf program that:
I am looking for a university and golf program that achieves academic excellence, and also allows me to compete rigorously at the collegiate level. I want a college environment geared toward higher learning that enables me to be involved in the University and the community as well.
  6. My college goals are:

College is about higher education, i have a lot of goals for college golf and non golf related. Though I am undecided on a major, I am going to get a degree, possibly a masters and business, and to network with people in and out of the college. I want to take part in the community as well as activites with schoool. In tearms of golf, i want to go as far as my abilities can take me.

  7. I am looking for a college golf coach that:
I am looking for a college golf coach that is able and willing to help his or her players. I also want someone that I am comfortable speaking to and approaching. I think it is very important to have a coach that you can understand, and that understands you, when you don’t it can be a hindrance to you and the rest of the team as well. A coach needs to be like a friend with really good advice, not just in golf but in life. They need to be a role model to their players, because we look to them for direction.
  8. The strengths of my golf game are:
My greatest strength in golf has always been my short game, especially chipping. I am very good at 50-80 yard chips. I can get them generally within 5ft of the hole sometimes closer. With putting I’m really good at reading greens, which allows me to make longer putts. Sophomore year I was awarded the I-CAN-PUTT Award on our team with the lowest number of putts in a round of 9 at 13 putts. It has always been my strength, and also an area I love to practice.
  9. The weaknesses of my golf game are:
One weakness of mine is sometimes I have to tone down my aggression on the course. I’ve never had any sort of outburst or anything, but internally I get angry and it holds me back sometimes. I continue to work on it, because eliminating it will help me in the long run.
  10. I think my golf game will continue to improve because:
I’m actually a late bloomer; I think it will improve because with my new pro I became a much better player. I’ve always had the physical ability, but the problems with my stroke held me back. My new pro, simplified my stroke, and made my swing plane better, allowing me to be more consistent, making shooting in the low forty’s easy. We started working in March, and since then, my last four outings have been 42, 86 (41, 45), 41. My short game as always been good, eliminating inconsistency off the tee, and making it more consistent, is what will allow me to shoot in the 30’s in the near future. Though the changes were difficult and timely, that’s the nature of the game. So you can expect to hear of me in the future.
